Dodam – Yongchun, South-Korea: Highest quality meets low maintenance with RHEDA 2000®

The project was initiated to renovate the old central line from Seoul to Kyungju in the Southeast of Korea. The central line is the second oldest crossline rail in the whole country. The total length of reconstruction is 145.1 km, all being equipped with the RHEDA 2000® system. The ballastless track solution is used as it is very cost-effective and flexible. This flexibility results in high-performance installation procedure with simple installation steps for both manual as well as automated procedures. It also adds great value to local production possibilities. Additionally, it has a longer life span and does not require much maintenance maintaining highest quality standards at the same time. Faster and easier travel for the passengers is the goal of the renovation by helping reduce the travel time immensely. The construction began in November 2013 and is expected to end in December 2024. After completion, the travel time between Seoul to Kyungju will be approximately 1 hour 40 minutes, which in the past was 6 hours 30 minutes.
