Bergen, Norway: Quick installation and maximum reliability

The new Airport link of Bybanens light rail system in Bergen (Norway) opened in April 2017 and connects the city center with the Airport in Flesland.

Project details:

  • LIS-type ballasted track sleepers were selected for most of the line section, since they are ideal for extensive use in a tramway environment. The sleepers are also preassembled with rail-fastening systems, making the job of installation easier
  • RHEDA CITY was used for the sections in the tram stations and depot, since this ballastless track system is suitable for all cover variations (i.e. grass, plaster or concrete)
  • The narrow window of opportunity for delivery posed a challenge. The sleepers were transported from Neumarkt to Bergen in a very short period of time by flat container, goods vehicle and ferry
  • RAILONE supplied over 23,000 LIS-type ballasted track sleepers and 730 linear meters of RHEDA CITY
