Brandleite Tunnel, Germany: ideal tunnel construction using GETRAC®

The Brandleite tunnel is near Oberhof, in Thuringia, Germany, and has been in operation since the end of the 19th century. In 2005 it has been converted to tilting train technology on behalf of Deutsche Bahn, and was extended to a double-track layout in conjunction with the increase in line speed.

Project details:

  • The GETRAC® A3 ballastless track system was selected for the three-kilometer stretch of line, since the twin sleepers used in this system permit a lower installation height and are particularly suited for use in tunnels
  • A total of 6.3 kilometers of GETRAC® A3 ballastless track was used
  • The Brandleite Tunnel is the fourth tunnel in a row that RAILONE has equipped with the GETRAC® A3 system
