USA HHS – individual design for extraordinary load capacity

Lines in the North American rail network must be designed for axle loads of up to 36 tons and be able to withstand the many and varied loads of exceptional traffic over the long term. Very long, double-deck trains loaded with containers, which are pulled by several locomotives, are not unusual there. RAILONE designed a new heavy-duty sleeper especially for these loads, the USA HHS (abbreviation for Heavy Haul Sleeper). In addition to the AREMA Manual and ASTM specifications, it also meets the high requirements of the US railway company Union Pacific Railroad. The sleeper type can be flexibly adapted to other customer requirements as well.

Properties:

  • Suitable for axle loads up to 36 tons and speeds up to 200 km/h
  • Consideration of AREMA Manual and ASTM requirements
  • Flexibly adaptable to specific customer requirements
  • Scallops on the sleeper flanks to increase the track lateral resistance
  • Traceability and further functionality through integration of RFID technology
