Rehabilitation: Hampstead Heath Tunnel, Great Britain

During the modernization of the Hampstead Heath Tunnel in London, RAILONE took over the entire planning process in 2008, from approval to execution. In addition to the narrow cross-sections of the approximately 100-year-old tunnel, the transition areas to the adjacent ballasted track posed particular challenges. The purpose of the modernization was to expand the use of the existing line for larger vehicles, which required an adjustment of the tunnel clearance profile by lowering the gradients. For this reason, the planning was realized in a ballastless track with the low-profile RHEDA 2000® system. Our planning services were rounded off by quality monitoring of the construction project on site
