In order to extend and revitalize the existing tramway system in Cagliari, line 3 was extended by two and a half kilometers and 6 stops. The extension of the network improves the public transport offer for both citizens and tourists, providing the city with a new, modern infrastructure that reduces road traffic and environmental pollution The applied RHEDA CITY system provides complete encapsulation of the rails in a proven system that has been used in other RHEDA CITY projects. It provides ultimate protection against stray current and is particularly suitable for wet coastal areas. It is a customized system for 950 mm gauge and with various surface course options.
