Faliro Bay, Athens, Greece: RHEDA CITY GREEN in “Athens Riviera”

The renovation of the track is part of the infrastructure works for the important “Faliro Bay Regeneration project” with the goal to promote nature, science, culture and sports as well as the contribution to the environmental and green development of transportation in the whole Attica region. The track is located directly near the scenic seaside in the Faliro Bay. The length of the track is 3,800 m with an operating speed of 80 km/h.  One of the special challenges of this project were the considerable time constraints for building the track in the shortest time possible as operation on the pre-existing network was stopped in order to execute the works. RAILONE delivered the RHEDA CITY GREEN Solution, which promotes noise reduction, low maintenance cost and saving valuable time in track assembly and maintenance.

Project details:

  • Project duration December 2019 to January 2021
  • RAILONE delivered 3,800 m RHEDA CITY GREEN for Vignol Rail ans Adjusting devices for 2,200 m track
  • The RHEDA CITY solution was chosen because its prefabricated sleepers ensure the basic track parameters (gauge and rail inclination), saving valuable time during track installation future maintenance
  • The purpose of building this tram line was to further improve the transport services provided by the existing network of Athens Tramway and contribute in the sustainable and green development of transportation in Attica region
