Wendlingen-Ulm, Germany: RHEDA 2000® for "Stuttgart 21"

The project comprises the current construction of the high-speed line for long-distance, regional and freight traffic across the Swabian Alb, which will run parallel to the A8 in many sections. The line will be connected to Neu-Ulm station in the east and to Stuttgart 21 in the west. The 60 km long new line will run in seven twin-tube tunnels. The reasons for building this high-speed line are to significantly reduce commuting times for travelers and improve local infrastructure. The proven RHEDA 2000® ballastless track system from RAILONE was selected for this project because this system is very cost-effective and has a long service life with very low maintenance requirements. In addition, the RHEDA 2000® system is very flexible, so the installation work can be carried out during ongoing operations. Construction work for this project began in 2010 and was finished in 2022.
