Renovation Project Rosenthaler Platz, Berlin, Germany: RHEDA CITY with mass spring system for the isolation of noise and vibrations

From autumn 2013, BVG (Berlin Transport Authority) carried out a renewal program for the tramway track at Rosenthaler Platz in order to replace the existing track system. In the course of the planning phase, technical measures for acoustic decoupling of the underground tunnel and for vibration mitigation were planned. Therefore, the system was planned and carried out with a mass-spring system. An additional challenge for the construction and traffic management planning lay in the requirement to maintain road traffic during all track construction phases. The overall scope of the construction project comprising the track, road and catenary installation had to be completed within a tight construction time window of only four weeks. For the Rosenthaler Platz rehabilitation project, RAILONE was engaged to provide design consultancy, concrete technology expertise and supply the RHEDA CITY track system components. RAILONE also provided additional engineering services spanning all project phases, from design and structural system dimensioning to construction supervision which accompanies the system installation.
